Description
Polypropylene ropes are often referred to as PP-Split film and low-cost all-purpose ropes.
Material and properties: Polypropylene ropes are made of polypropylene monofilament, or PP-split film as it is also known.
- Split film is a method of manufacturing fibers from polypropylene plastic by drawing and separating them. Polypropylene is a synthetic material known for its moderate properties combined with a relatively low price, making it a popular choice for many.
- Color: The ropes are usually blue and are sometimes referred to as “PP-blue” or “blue rope”. The ropes float and have an elongation at break of approximately 25% and they float in water.
Applications: Polypropylene ropes have a variety of applications, including:
- Tarpaulin ropes and tying ropes: The ropes are often used as tarpaulin ropes to secure tarps and as tying ropes for trailers and loading goods.
- Edge ropes in nets: The ropes are used as edge ropes in various types of nets, including container nets and fishing nets, to provide strength and structure to the nets.
- Inexpensive universal ropes: Polypropylene ropes are cost-effective and widely used in various industries, including industry, agriculture, fishing and shipping, as a versatile rope for different purposes.
Advantages: Polypropylene ropes are relatively inexpensive compared to ropes made of similar materials but still provide acceptable strength and UV resistance. The ropes are lightweight and float, which is advantageous in marine and water-related applications.
