Description
Reinforced spun polyester is a high-quality cordage with an impressive history, developed in-house and manufactured by AB Knut Westerbergs Repslageri for five generations since 1889.
Material and properties: This 3-strand rope consists of a carefully balanced blend of 70% polyester silk and 30% spun polyester, offering a strong and versatile line with a range of beneficial properties.
- Material blend: Reinforced spun polyester stands out due to its special composition of materials. It is made of 70% polyester multifilament and 30% spun polyester. This unique combination provides the rope with outstanding strength and durability while maintaining excellent grip for securing knots.
- Color: The rope comes in a standard color of pure white, but it can also be manufactured in other colors upon request. One of the most prominent features of reinforced spun polyester is its excellent UV resistance, making it ideal for outdoor use and prolonged exposure to sunlight.
- Construction: The ropes are 3-strand and have a breaking elongation of approximately 25%. Its relatively high density means the ropes sink in water.
Applications: Reinforced spun polyester has a variety of applications, and its versatility makes it a popular choice across different industries. it is commonly known worldwide as “Nordic ropes” as the blend was invented by the company behind Swedish Rope.
- Mooring & anchoring: In the boating industry, it is often used as mooring and anchor lines for leisure boats due to its reliable knot grip and high strength.
- Fishing industry: Its UV resistance also makes it an excellent option for trotline fishing used in demanding fishing gear exposed to tough weather conditions. Other applications include fender lines, lead ropes, guide lines and more.
Advantages: Reinforced spun polyester is a reliable and proven cordage that has stood the test of time and continues to evolve and improve with multiple generations of rope makers. It is renowned for its strength, grip and durability, making it an excellent choice for various purposes, especially within the maritime and industrial sectors.
