Chafe Guard

Description

Chafe Guard are openable protectors with Velcro closures.

Material and properties: These protections are made of polyester multifilament covered with a rubberized and reinforced casing for extra durability. They feature a strong and durable Velcro strip along the entire length of the protector, allowing easy opening when needed while securely holding in place otherwise. An additional securing loop minimizes the risk of the guard falling off even if it is opened.

Applications: Chafe guards are used for ropes in cases where they are subject to extreme wear. Below are examples of their applications:

• Loops: In some cases, you may not want or be able to splice fixed abrasion protections (tubing) into the loops of mooring cleats, yet there is a need for protection. Openable chafe guards are ideal as they can be retrofitted anywhere, anytime, as needed.

• Abrasion protection: Often, when mooring around obstacles such as trees or rocks, ropes can wear quickly. Even the most abrasion-resistant ropes can be damaged. With a chafe guard, you have a solution that can be quickly deployed exactly where and when it’s needed.

Advantages: Unlike fixed protectors like polyester tubes or fire hoses, chafe guards can be installed and removed as required. They provide extra strong protection due to their rubberized and reinforced construction.
