Description

P-rings or mooring rings are used for anchoring and securing buoys and docks to the bottom.

Material and characteristics: The buoy rings are made of steel and painted for additional rust protection. They are heavy and angular in structure, designed to effectively embed into mud or grip onto rocks on lake or seabeds. They feature a sturdy loop for attaching the buoy line or chain and flanges angled to prevent displacement under load.

Applications: P-rings are primarily used for anchoring docks and buoys.

  • Buoy mooring: The P-ring sinks into the mud and turns with the attachment loop towards shore, ensuring it remains secure during boat mooring.
  • Dock anchoring: When securing a floating dock, typically two or four P-rings are placed, one at each corner for mooring. Chains or ropes are then anchored overlapping diagonally across the P-rings for better cushioning and stability.

Advantages: This galvanized buoy ring or P-ring is intended for use at the lake or seabed and has the ability to embed into the mud, making it suitable for mooring both docks and buoys. Unlike a buoy stone, which can weigh several tons, P-rings are more manageable. For optimal use, it is recommended to use a buoy line that is at least 1,5 times the water depth in length. If the area around the buoy ring is rocky, a float can be attached to the line about a meter above the buoy ring to protect the line from wear. This float also serves as protection for bottom vegetation.
