Splicing tools are used to process ropes and lines, for example, to create loops, seizings or splices. There are many different types of splcing tools, here are a few examples:
- Splicing fid: a simple splicing tool also known as a “Swedish fid”. Primarily used for splicing 3-strand rope but also effective for splicing square-braided hawsers and ropes.
- SELMA: Selma’s splicing needles are round, hollow and pointed tools that are well-suited for splicing loose-braided and double-braided ropes.
- Paracord splicing tools: small, hollow splicing tools for working with thin cords and for seizings and bends.
- Sailmaker’s needles: also known as sail needles or sailmaker needles, made of high-quality steel with triangular needle heads. Used for sewing and splicing.
