Description

Bank line made of tarred polyamide (coal tarred), twisted, is a specially designed cord for a variety of uses.

Material and properties: Banklines are made of twisted, thin multifilament polyamide fibers. These yarns are extremely strong and resistant to UV radiation. The cords are impregnated with coal tar, creating a so-called tarred bankline. High breaking strength and very good elongation characterize this type of cord.

Applications: Twisted bank line are used in many different areas. Some examples of applications include:

  • Bushcraft: In nature and outdoor activities, tarred, black twines are often known as banklines or Bank Lines. Their strength, elasticity and ease of tying make them very popular “jack-of-all-trades” cords for outdoor enthusiasts.
  • Netting: Traditionally, bank lines have been used for a long time in the fishing industry to repair, tie and assemble fishing nets and other fishing gear.
  • Rigging: To prevent the end of a thicker rope from “fraying,” tarred bank line are preferred for their impregnation, which provides incredibly good grip in knots and rigging. The unique ability of the cord to stretch allows knots to be tightened significantly and becomes virtually impossible to undo.

Advantages: Bank lines are particularly useful when a strong, elastic and knot-friendly cord is needed.
